Before your appointment
How to prepare
Three things, and they are the difference between makeup that still looks right at the end of the night and makeup that does not. None of them take long — they just have to happen before the day, not on it.
Skip facial treatments for a week
No peels, microneedling, strong actives, waxing or threading for at least seven days before your appointment.
Freshly treated skin is sensitised and often lightly flaking, so base products cling to it and lift unevenly. It is also the one variable that can turn into visible redness on the day itself, when there is no time left to do anything about it.
Arrive with a clean face
Come with no makeup on, wearing only your usual daytime moisturiser.
Taking makeup off comes out of your appointment time rather than mine, and a base applied over yesterday’s products sits differently to one applied on clean skin. If you wear lashes or brow makeup, come without them.
Wash and dry your hair
Hair should be freshly washed and completely dry, with no masks, oils or styling products in it.
Product residue is the main reason a style drops out during the day. Clean, dry hair holds; conditioned or oiled hair slips, and no amount of pinning fixes it afterwards.
If any of this is a problem — a treatment already booked, a hair appointment the day before, anything at all — tell me rather than worrying about it. There is almost always a way to work around it if I know in advance.
Anything unclear?
Message me. I would much rather answer a question the week before than solve a surprise on the morning.
